Qualcomm introduces second-generation Snapdragon XR2+ platform: leading the way to a new level of XR/VR experience

Recently.Qualcommannounced the second-generation Snapdragon XR2+ platform, designed to further enhance the extended reality (XR) and virtual reality (VR) experience. This new platform utilizes a singlemicrochiparchitecture that delivers stunning visuals and a smooth interactive experience, creating endless possibilities for work and play.

The Snapdragon XR2+ platform is equipped with powerful performance. It is capable of rendering 4.3K display resolution at 90 frames per second, bringing users clear and detailed picture effects. The spatial computing technology enables users to get a more realistic and natural immersion in the virtual world.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon XR2+ platform supports Qualcomm's latest FastConnect™ mobile connectivity system. With ultra-fast Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.2 wireless connectivity, users can enjoy a lag-free XR experience. Compared to its predecessor, FastConnect delivers a 601 TP3T increase in throughput and a 501 TP3T reduction in latency, ensuring a smooth and stable network connection.

To accelerate time-to-market, Qualcomm Technologies has also launched a new MR and VR reference design with Gore. This reference design utilizes Tobii's eye tracking technology and supports both monocular 3K and monocular 4K configurations. By partnering with industry-leading hardware manufacturers, Qualcomm aims to drive the development of XR/VR devices to deliver an even better experience for users.

Additionally, Qualcomm said it is working with a number of hardware manufacturers, including well-known brands such as HTC, Samsung, HTC Vive, Immersed and Play for Dream. One of the unnamed customers will also be launching a new product based on the Snapdragon XR2+ platform on January 8, local time.

The launch of Qualcomm's second-generation Snapdragon XR2+ platform will further drive the development and adoption of XR/VR technology.
