Samsung wins first 2nm chip order ahead of TSMC

Recently.Samsung ElectronicsAnnounces Successful Acquisition of Japanartificial intelligence (AI)Giant Preferred Networks Inc.'s (PFN) first 2nm processAI chipproduction orders, thus taking a lead in the 2nm advanced chip race byTaiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)PFN, a leader in artificial intelligence, has been at the forefront of developing cutting-edge AI chips and software.

PFN has been working with TSMC since 2016, but this time they have decided to turn to Samsung to use their 2nm node for the production of next-generation AI chips. According to sources, PFN's decision is due to Samsung's comprehensive chip manufacturing services from chip design to production and advanced chip packaging.

The deal is beneficial to both parties; PFN will gain an edge over the competition by adopting Samsung's updated chip technology. And for Samsung, it not only secures an actual customer for its state-of-the-art chip technology, but also puts it in strong competition with TSMC in the foundry space.

Samsung's win of the PFN order has undoubtedly added significant leverage to its position in the AI chip market. In the future, we expect to see more competition and cooperation between Samsung and TSMC in the field of 2nm process chips.
