Carrying 22 times its own weight, the explosion-powered insect robot is here.

Developed by researchers at Cornell University, the robot, which is 29 millimeters long and weighs just 1.6 grams, can jump 59 centimeters vertically, inject methane vapor and oxygen into a combustion chamber, where tiny sparks ignite the mixture, and in less than a half-millisecond the top of the chamber expands upward like a piston, generating a force of 95 newtons by repeating the cycle a hundred times per second.
