Baidu Apollo and PonySmart Receive Commercialization Pilot Notification to Open Unmanned Self-Driving Travel Services in Vehicles

Recently.BaiduApollo's self-driving mobility platforms, Radish Express and Pony Smart, announced that they have been awarded the first batch of passenger car "in-vehicle unmanned, out-of-vehicle remote" mobility service commercialization pilot notification letters in Beijing's Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone. This means that the two companies will start the paid trial operation of in-vehicle unmanned self-driving travel services in Yizhuang, Beijing.

It is reported that Pony Smart has taken the lead in the Beijing Jingkai District to carry out the pilot, and will continue to charge in accordance with the previous charges. Turnip Express will also carry out unmanned commercialization pilot in Beijing Jingkai District, users can call "unmanned" Turnip Express vehicles through the Turnip Express App/Small Program, Baidu Map, Baidu App and other platforms.

In order to enhance the travel and riding experience of passengers, PonyPilot has launched new features such as unmanned stops, reservation for unmanned trips in the car, and updated the user interface in the back of the car in the ride hailing software PonyPilot+. A new introduction to the "unmanned car" service process and vehicle features has also been added.

It is worth noting that the approval to carry out "unmanned in the car" commercialization pilot enterprises in the early demonstration of the application stage to accumulate mileage in line with the standard, the number of passenger orders and trips, and in the safety of the operation, emergency response, management system and other aspects of the heavy assessment. This also means that Baidu Apollo and PonySmart's in-vehicle unmanned self-driving travel service has reached a certain level of maturity and safety requirements, with the prerequisites for commercialization.
