Ministry of Science and Technology regulates the use of AI: AIGC is prohibited from directly generating declaration materials

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has recently released the Guidelines on the Code of Conduct for Responsible Research (2023), which explicitly prohibits the use of generativeartificial intelligence (AI)Directly generate declarations and emphasize that researchers should integrate the requirements of ethics of science and technology throughout the research process.

According to the guidelines, no organization or individual should use generativeartificial intelligence (AI)technology to directly generate declaration materials, and generative AI shall not be listed as a co-complete of the results. This means that in the declaration, evaluation and release of scientific research projects, it is prohibited to utilize theAI technologyGenerating or tampering with data, graphs, etc.

This regulation was introduced to strengthen the normative and ethical nature of research activities and to preventAITechnology is misused and improperly utilized in the field of scientific research. At the same time, researchers are reminded to comply with the ethical requirements of science and technology, and to carry out ethical guidelines throughout the entire process of research, so as to ensure the scientificity and impartiality of research activities.

In the future, the Ministry of Science and Technology will also continue to strengthen the construction of scientific research ethics and academic morality, establish and improve the relevant institutional system, and provide more standardized and powerful protection for scientific research activities.
