1.1 Billion Instagram, Facebook Photos Feed Meta AI Image Generator for Training

Meta Recently released a free text image generation site Imagine with Meta AIIn addition, users can enter text prompts that allow the site to generate corresponding images. The image generator is based on Meta's Emu image synthesis model, which was trained using 1.1 billion publicly visible photos from Instagram and Facebook.

This means that if you post a photo publicly on Instagram or Facebook, then your photo is likely to be used to train this AI model. If you don't want your photo to be used to train the model, you can make your photo private.

It's worth noting that Meta uses only a small fraction of the hundreds of millions of photos uploaded on Instagram every day to train its model. This suggests that while Meta's model is trained using a large number of public photos, these photos are just the tip of the iceberg.

On the Imagine with Meta AI website, users can enter any text prompt words they wish to generate and the system will return four 1280×1280 pixel images. These images can be viewed directly on the site or downloaded and saved in JPEG format. Note, however, that the images are watermarked Imagined with AI at the bottom left to indicate that they were generated by AI.

Overall, Meta's AI image generator uses a large number of public photos for training, and can generate images with a certain sense of reality. This undoubtedly provides new ideas and directions for the development and application of AI technology.
