Hertfordshire, England, will recently conduct a study using theAI technologyRobot testing for road repair that will "revolutionize" pavement repair work. The project, called ARRES PREVENT, is the first autonomous road repair system. The system was developed by local technology company Robotiz3d, academics from the University of Liverpool and Hertfordshire County Council's HCC Highways engineers. ARRES PREVent can utilizeAIIdentifies cracks and potholes in the road and analyzes their characteristics. It then automatically fills the cracks and prevents other potholes from forming. The robot has already completed tests in a laboratory environment and will be on the road early this year.

Robotiz3d hopes the machine will reduce the cost and time required to repair potholes and cracks, as well as reducing material waste and carbon emissions. The company's CEO, Lisa Reiser, said she hoped the technology would solve the local "pothole crisis", which has seen more than £1 billion invested in pavement repairs in the UK over the past decade.
