Baidu's former Apollo tech lead Luo Qi joins NVIDIA to strengthen self-driving tech development

According to LatePost.BaiduQi Luo, the key technology leader of the Smart Driving L2+ business, has recently moved to theNVIDIA, computer graphics card companyAutomotive Division, as Director of Engineering. During his tenure at Baidu, he focused on the development of overall software architecture, regulation, and vehicle interaction technologies on the vehicle side, and was promoted to T9 (architect level) before leaving.

Since joining Baidu in 2016, Luo Qi has worked at the American Research Institute and was promoted to Senior Chief Software Architect in 2022. During his time at Baidu, he led the vehicle-side software architecture for the ANP (Apollo Pilot Assisted Driving) business and was responsible for the development and innovation of related technologies.

NVIDIA has been exploring the development of autonomous driving solutions since 2015, and has established cooperative intentions with overseas car companies such as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover. However, NVIDIA has not been able to make significant progress in delivering complete solutions, and even faces pressure from customers such as Mercedes-Benz to introduce other suppliers. In order to strengthen the R&D strength of automatic driving technology, NVIDIA has actively recruited industry elites.
