Google's "Robot Constitution AutoRT" released to the public, aims to ensure human safety and efficient operation of robots

Recently.Google Internet company The DeepMind Robotics team has announced three new developments designed to help robots make faster, better, and safer decisions in natural environments. The most notable of these is AutoRT, a 'robot constitution' system drafted by the team. The system aims to ensure that the AI Robots do not harm humans in their work.

To achieve this, DeepMind has programmed the robot to set limits at its joints. If the force on a joint exceeds a certain threshold, the robot will automatically stop working. In addition, a human operator can stop the robot at any time with a physical switch. This safety mechanism is inspired by Isaac Asimov's 'Three Laws of Robotics'.

These laws are:

  • First law: robots cannot harm humans, nor can they harm humans through inaction.
  • Second law: robots must obey commands issued by humans unless the first law is violated.
  • Third Law: a robot must defend its existence as long as it does not violate the first or second law.

The "Robot Constitution" system is centered on safety, enabling robots to work efficiently while protecting human beings. The implementation of this system will help to address safety issues that may arise from the practical application of robots and promote the further development of robotics.
